Why Nothing Can Satisfy You and You Can’t Find Happiness

by Nick Lotter on May 19, 2012

EternityStand up and step back for a moment. Today we are going to evaluate our lives and take stock of where we are headed. We are going to ask ourselves some tough questions.

What are you striving for? What are your priorities? What is it that you are spending your life trying to achieve? What are your goals? What are your dreams?

What is driving you? Is it money? Wealth? Fame? Personal development? Achievement in your career? Sports achievements? Reputation? Popularity?

We have each been given a few decades of life… ONE lifetime… what are you spending yours on?

Is it everlasting? Will it all have been worthwhile?

Do you know that our lives here on this earth is nothing but a vapour? Time is fleeting. We are here today, gone tomorrow.

James 4:14 Whereas you don’t know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is just a vapour, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.

Are you looking for happiness and fulfillment in the right places? Are your careers, money, anti-depressants, alcohol, drugs, entertainment, parties, or social status bringing you the satisfaction you are looking for?

Are you still stuck in a downward spiral, going from one quick fix to the next?

Isaiah 55:1 Everyone that thirsts, come to the waters, and he that has no money; come, buy, and eat; come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Isa 55:2 Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Isa 55:3 Incline your ear, and come to me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

You were made for much greater things than you can imagine…
